In 124 years, only eleven horses have won The Triple Crown. War Admiral (1937 winner) was the son of Man o'War and was ridden by the late Charles Kurtsinger. Whirlaway (1941 winner) won The Derby by eight lengths and was ridden by the late Eddie Arcaro. Count Fleet (1943 winner) won The Belmont by 25 lengths and was ridden by Johnny Longden. Assault (1946 winner) was a small colt from Texas, ridden by the late Warren Mehrtens.
